Loan Forgiveness/Loan Repayment

Under certain circumstances, your federal student loan, or a portion of your loan, may be cancelled or “forgiven.” In other words, you won't have to repay it. For example, teachers who teach in certain areas, such as rural or low-income school districts, may be able to have their student loans canceled or their payments deferred, or health care professionals, including nurses and physicians in their residency, sometimes can cancel their student loans or defer their loan payments.
